Research On Raozhou In Liao Dynasty

The site of Raozhou is in60kilometers to the southwest of Linxi County,Chifeng, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It belongs to the Huangtukeng village,Xiyingtaogou village committee, which is the site of ancient city in Liao Dynasty. InMay2013, it is appointed and approved as the seventh key national relic protectionunit by the State Council. The digging and research on this site is started in late1970sand early1980s. The severe damage of the site caused the paucity of archeologicaldata and affected the further development of the study, until now, several publishedarticles only researched on some single aspects of Raozhou site with the shortage ofcomprehensive research results. Therefore, the reader can not have a comprehensiveunderstanding of the entire Raozhou site.This paper tries to have an in-depth systemic research on Raozhou site with thecombination of the ancient literature and archeological data to complement and provethe previous study.The paper is divided into5parts.1.Introduction: This part mainly illustrates the purpose of the writing, thesignificance of the selection of this topic and the results of previous study.2.Raozhou in Liao Dynasty records in ancient literature. This part mainlyconcludes and reorganizes the records of population composition, geographicallocation of Raozhou in the ancient literatures such as "Liao History",“The NationalRecords of Khitan” etc.3. Archeological data of the historical relics of Raozhou in Liao Dynasty. Thispart mainly introduces the entire situation of Raozhou site and the specific situation ofthe discovered building material, stone stools, iron utensils, ceramic wares, religiousarticles and ancient coins etc.4. The study of relevant issues about Raozhou in Liao Dynasty. This part mainlystudies and discusses the affiliation and characteristics of Raozhou site and discusses the urban function of Raozhou from four aspects as politics, economy, military andculture.5. Conclusion. This part is the last part of the paper. It makes a conclusion andsummary of the overall content of the paper and proposes personal opinions on thetopic.
