Guo Xuebo created some great novels about the natural grassland devastated in thegeneral background of global ecological crisis. His writings, inheriting the ecological wisdomfrom traditional Mongolian culture, which concerns much of nature and life, are mostly alikein themes, which are focused on grassland life involving human, nature and theirrelationships. As an outstanding representative of ecological writers, Guo developed profoundthoughts on how to keep the balance between man and nature as well as animal and man, andhe embodied the thoughts in his novels of all the breathtaking stories. The primitiveShamanism, the folk legends, and supernatural communications between man and animal alsoadd a mysterious color to the narration.In the works, he expresses his concerns on the precious culture heirloom which is fadinggradually. His writing, following Vargas Llosa’s artistic style, put several stories, each of themabout different characters and a different plot, cleverly together. While creating a legendaryand mysterious atmosphere, it improves the aesthetic level of the whole works. The readerscan easily enjoy a reserved, deep feeling and a much vast room for imagination. Thequestions rose in the works on primitive Shamanism and the mysterious human-animalrelationships deepen the thoughts, enhance the themes, and inspire reflections from thereaders on the so called progress of modern civilization.
