Mongolian writer Guo Xuebo has published influential works such as "The Goddess of the Xilin River","Desert Wolf Child","Silver Fox",and "Green Flag · Gadamelin",including many domestic and international award-winning Ones since his early writings in 1975.To date,we realize that Guo Xuebo,who is specialized in ecological narration,not only confined to the grassland ecological writings,but also pay attention to Mongolian history and Particularly in recent years,the author has repeatedly exuded his urge to restate history in his novels.As ethnic group culture in decline,ethnic group memory in oblivion,Guo Xuebo attempts to revive ethnic group memory in his retrospection of history.His formidable reconstruction of Mongolian history,his rueful reflection on modernitythat make his history narrativespeculiarity.Technically speaking,Guo Xuebo's historical narratives not only contains anxiety on the disappearance of his ethnic group memory,but also includes his downfall senses about the decline of the traditional culture of all ethnic groups in China.Therefore,an analysis on historical narratives in Guo Xuebo's novels contribute to the attainment of Characteristics of his novels,meanwhile,to an intensive understanding of Mongolian history,culture and current Mongolian situation.This thesis attempts to explore mainly the historical narrative in Guo Xuebo's novels,characterized with multi-analysis.The main part of the thesis is divided into four chapters.The first chapter focuses on the research of the historical map presented in Guo Xuebo's novels,and reveals the composition of "Mongolian history" which majorly includeMongolian ethnic group legend ancient and modern history,and the Mongolian opposition to grassland reclamation and the struggle against Japanese aggressionin the first half of the 20 th century,the situation of the Mongolians after the founding of the People's Republic of China,and the historical features of the Mongolians after the reform and opening up.The second chapter analyzes the thematic connotation of historical narration in Guo Xuebo's novels,and mainly discusses the topics of cultural root seeking and ethnical construction,reflection on modernity,and national identity.Among them,Guo Xuebo's writings of Mongolian history and reality,and the tracing of ethnic culture,literallyturns out to be the "root" of the traditional Mongolian culture and the "soul" of the Mongolian spirit.Guo Xuebo keenly discovered those hidden pains in the ethnic groups survival under the influence of modernity,such as the destruction of ecology,the loss of faith,and the disaster of war,these negative affects to modernity add meaning to his historical narratives.The expression of ethnic identity and national identity is also an important theme of historical narration in Guo Xuebo's novels,which reflects the author's concerns for ethnic groups and the country.The third chapter mainly discusses the portrayal of various characters in historical narration in Guo Xuebo's novels.These images can be roughly divided into legendary hero images,treacherous villain images,religious culture inheritor images,and traditional cultural heirs images.The portrayal of the legendary hero image shows the respect and praise of the heroic spirit of the ethnic group;the shaping of the treacherous villain images criticizetheirharmful behaviors to nation and the country interests,and reveals the hardships and twists of the Mongolian history;The delineation of the image of the artist and the traditional culture heirsdemonstrate the author's memory of the ethnic group past history and his passion tothe ethnic group splendid culture.The fourth chapter analyzes the perspective characteristics of historical narration in Guo Xuebo's novels.It mainly discusses the effects of its animal perspective,children perspective and multi-angle narrative perspective on historical narratives.Through the reflection of animal perspective,readers could profoundly sense the solemnity of Mongolian history in their unfamiliar reading background.With the help of children perspective,it reveals those significantand easily ignored Mongolian history details;and the intersected employ of multi-angle narrative perspectives completes the multi-dimensional presentation of Mongolian history.
