The Research On The Relationship Between Gender Role And Time Perspective Of College Students

The present study conducts a survey on Gender Role Types andTime Perspective of university students, and discusses the relationshipbetween two of them, moreover，the study researches the affecting factorsof Time Perspective. Our main purpose is to provide more information tothe study of the relationship between Time Perspective and Gender RoleTypes and affecting factors of Time Perspective of university students andenrich our research in this area, and to provide more extensive guidancefor college students for their gender role shaping and time perspectiveimproving.The first research: in order to research the relationship betweenTime Perspective and Gender Role Types, we selected375students fromInner Mongolia Normal University and Inner Mongolia Poly TechnicUniversity in random sampling method, this research adopts thequestionnaires of BSRI and ZTPI. The second research: the present studyadopts4×3×3three-way between-subjects completely randomexperimental design and selected390members from Inner MongoliaNormal University and Normal University of Jining to research theaffecting factor of Time Perspective. All data are analyzed by the methodof descriptive statistics, chi-square test, one-way ANOVA, correlationanalysis, three-way between-subjects ANOVA, and simple effect analysis.The results are as follows:1、There are significant differences between gender roles and timeperspective, the university student’s distribution of gender roles from lowto high are feminine, masculine, undifferentiated and androgyny. 2、For Time perspective, there are significant differences in thegrades but no significant difference in gender.3、The score of gender roles type in each dimension of timeperspective has remarkable differences.4、Event types shows significant main effect on time perspective,event types and time frame have interactive effects on time perspectivedimensions of past negative, past positive, present hedonism and presentfatalism, except future dimension.The conclusions are as follows:(1)Androgyny has higher balanced time perspective, and androgynymodel applies to Chinese undergraduates.(2)State time perspective changes with the rising of grade.(3) Androgyny focus on past positive, present hedonism and futuremore, but undifferentiated focus on past negative and present fatalismmore.(4) The main affecting factor of Time Perspective is event types,gender role influences present fatalism and time frame influences presenthedonism.
