Currently, lots of studies in the field of teaching Chinese as a second language have been undergoing, especially in the "Three Aspects of Teaching", i.e. Teachers, teaching materials and methods of teaching. Meanwhile, during the course, two other aspects could not be ignored either, which are the study of the language learner and the studying environment. Each way of language teaching fits certain language learners, and if they are wrongly matched, little effect would there be. As the development of the research of learning a second language, more and more studies about learners are carried out. Some of the studies show that the facts lie in the learner can decide whether learners will make major progress in language learning. However, among many of the factors which affect the learning results, studying motivation is the core.This article, based on the achievement has been made by experts both in and out of the country, has adopted the methods of questionnaires and interviewing etc. to research and analyze the students’motivation in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. According to the result, most of the learners from the region have strong and complex motivation. They have shown integration motivation, instrumental motivation, intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation, among which the instrumental motivation is more protruding; Chinese language learners would show different types of motivation if they have differences in the aspects of sex, age, education and time spent in the learning; A lot of factors and reasons could influent their motivation. Moreover, the article has given some suggestions in regards to the Chinese studying situation in Cambodia to provide some reference if needed. In the teaching process, teachers should stimulate students’motivation accordingly to achieve better result in studying and teaching.
