From the view of Shi Tiesheng,’bafflement’ is not only the world and life outlook, but also the poetics outlook. The fragment world, dilemma of being, and bafflement of live are the fundamental situations of human beings, which are also the origin of Shi Tiesheng’s writing works. As a result, his writing works always present a scene of the abysses of being, which are different in textures, sizes and patterns. Yelling at these abysses of being, sometimes you can get the echo of salvation, but sometimes can’t. Therefore, this article will use the keyword ’bafflement’ as a clue to get through the whole creation of Shi Tiesheng, which is divided into4stages by analysing the production power, concrete connotation, deployment ways, historical forms and the author’s attitudes and disposals of ’bafflement’ in different stages. So that we can distinguish the continuity and diversity of his writing works.The first chapter introduces the origin and significance of this study, reviews the current research status, illustrates the research ideas and methods, and defines some important terms in the paper. The second chapter discriminates the ’bafflement’ poetics and being poetics, explores the realistic foundation and thought resources of "bafflement" and the traditional origin of ’bafflement’ poetics, analyses the cultural trauma writing which is a kind of construct activity, interprets the homogeneity and heterogeneity between Shi Tiesheng’s first stage of literature creation and the main stream of Scar Literature. The third chapter discusses the relationship between disease and Shi Tiesheng’s creation. Although he opened an abyss of disease, the diverse and rich daily life, gestalt function of memory and imagination, and the power of love still offer some possibility of salvation. The fourth chapter points out that, Shi Tiesheng’s creation come into the exploration about being. Highlighted subjectivity and the skills of modernism are main characteristics of this period. By correcting the general "process" interpretation of his writing, we point out that the freedom and desperation are a couple of keywords of this period. His creations during this time just yelled but didn’t been echoed. In the fifth chapter, after analysing the relationship between his writing and the root-seeking, we study his forth stage creation from the view of anthropology, considering that the change from existentialism to anthropology shows his last effort to find the way of salvation in his later years.
