Vocabulary teaching takes an important position in the career of teaching Chinese asa foreign language and one dominant theory of it is ‘emphasize vocabulary teachingmethod and weaken grammar teaching method’. As a general knowledge, Chineseidiom is a special type in Chinese language system and famous for its concise and vividcharacteristics, which is also known as ‘an integration language’ in Chinese languageand still popular in these days.As a result, Chinese Idiom teaching is regarded as an important position in thecareer of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. However, there are lack of overall andcomprehensive theories and practicing methods on Chinese Idiom teaching. Based onthese, this dissertation is trying to research and analyze some related theories andteaching methods on a high-level teaching Chinese as a foreign language by using‘Chinese Vocabulary Proficiency and Chinese Character Level Outline’.This dissertation consists of four sections. The first part is summarizing thisarticle’s research objects, aims, methodology and current research situation. Then thefollowing section is focus on surveys about students’ learning progresses of teachingmaterials such as ‘Chinese Vocabulary Proficiency and Chinese Character LevelOutline’, Chinese idioms in HSK database and so on. And then there are severaladvices on teaching theories are provided based on the surveys in the previous section.At last, in section four, based on teaching theories, related practicing teaching methodsand measures are proposed. More specifically, by using some Chinese idioms in‘Chinese Vocabulary Proficiency and Chinese Character Level Outline’, severalrelated teaching methods and advices are presented in order to make some contributesand consultants to foreign learner and teachers.
