In the view of many scholars, the current literature education is faced with many challenges, for example, a lack of humanistic feelings in literature education, a distinct major barrier, an overwhelming education in the history of literature and negative effects on literature education from multi-media, etc. Given that, the reform of literature education is imperative.To solve those problems in literature education, instead of looking for solutions in new ideas, we can learn predecessors’ideas, especially those masters’. Zhu Guangqian, an aesthetician, can also be considered as a top-ranking educator by giving a deep research on literature education. Having accepted traditional Chinese education and British education, and having ever taught in middle schools and universities, Zhu Guangqian’s educational thought is a combination of his learning and teaching experience. Combining theory and practice, his educational thought has a profound meaning to current literature education. In this thesis, the author researches Zhu Guangqian’s thought on literature education, expecting to offer reference to current literature education.This paper is divided into four parts. The first part is the first requirement of zhu Guangqian’s literature education thoughts, that is, cultivating the pure literary taste. In order to achieve that, one should first of all identify the vulgar literary tastes, and then cultivate the pure literature tastes, mainly by way of reading and understanding. The second part elaborates on the emotional education in Zhu’s educational thoughts, stating that emotions play an important part in literature, and that aesthetic education is also a kind of emotional education, which helps show the humanity of literature education. In the third part, the author discourses the Chinese education in Zhu’s educational thoughts, including how to read and how to write. Following that comes the elaboration on Zhu’s thought of poetry education, where the definition of poetry, the artistic conception of poetry and detailed research methods are discussed. By writing the thesis, the author tries to give a tentative study on Zhu Guangqian’s thoughts of literature education.
