The Investigation And Analysis About The Usages Of "是" In Modern Chinese

Abstract:"是" is a common word in modern Chinese, the nature and usage are also complicated. Over the years, grammarians have discussed "是" from different aspects, and made great achievements, but there are still some unknown fields, and also lack of a comprehensive analysis and interpretation of relevant "是" structure’s grammatical and pragmatic feature.This thesis discuss the sort of "是……的"concretely, make analysis of"……的是……" structure, construction and function of single and multiple "A是A "structure; make analysis and description of combinative phenomena and elliptical phenomena produced by combination of "是" and adverbs, and make analysis and interpretation of the specific phenomena produced by combination of "是" and predicative constituents.Due to space limitations, this thesis just invest and describe these several common and special phenomena.
