Wu Mi grew up in an environment under the influence of Confucian culture, andhe was affected by Babbitt Humanism when he study abroad. So he firmly defended thetraditional Chinese culture, especially defended Confucius and Confucianism, andstrove to do the moral practices. In this paper, the writer catches Wu Mi’s major worksas the main research to study his life and his thought. Combining with the historicalbackground as well as the analyses of classical cases, the writer gives a analysis aboutWu Mi’s Confucianism.In the introduction of this paper, the writer reviews the achievements the studies onWu Mi at the previous time, and then explains the reasons and significances for thechosen topic.In the first part, the writer makes a brief introduction to the living environment andConfucianism emotion in Wu Mi’s teenager that cultivated Wu Mi’s Confucianism. Hislearning from Babbitt had also rich and deep his Confucianism.In the second part, the writer reviews the historical background of the Wu Mi’sConfucianism, and describes the conservative response to the New Culture Movement.The third part is the focus of this paper, the writer explains the main content of WuMi’s Confucianism include the views on Li Yu,Confucianism, Human Nature etc.In the last part, the writer points out the limitation and the significance of Wu Mi’sConfucianism. The destiny of Wu Mi’s thought is sad, but it provides a reference to thedevelopment of modern Chinese culture, thus studying on Wu Mi’s thoughts makes acertain significance to the modern Chinese cultural construction.
