The Research On Quanzhen Taoism’s Spread Of Henan In Jin And Yuan Dynasties

Quanzhen Taoism was produced in the north of china during Zhenglong and Dading (正隆、大定间) period in Jin Dynasty. Available information indicates that Wang Chongyang and most of Quanzhen qizi(全真七子) had preached in Henan. The third and four generation disciples such as Wang Zhijin, Zhou Yizhen,Song Defang, who had greatly promoted Quanzhen Taoism’s development in Henan. The spread of Henan Quanzhen Taoism became an important area in Jin and Yuan Dynasties.The Quanzhen temples of Henan in Jin and Yuan Dynasties played an important role on quantities and influences. As we known that Henan had as many as310temples in Jin and Yuan Dynasties, which mainly located in the north of Henan, for example, Xinxiang, Anyang, Jiaozuo, Kaifeng. The famous Quanzhen temples such as Kaifeng Chaoyuangong, Zhongyue chongfugong, Jiyuan Ziweigong, which had a far-reaching influence to the development of Quanzhen Taoism in many districtes. The economic of temple also received development. By comparing the number of Quanzhen temple, we could found that the tendency of Quanzhen Taoism in Henan is different from the overall trend, which has a great relationship with the incoming time. From the part of sectarian attribution, we could found that most of temples belong to Longmen sectarian (龙门派)which was created by Qiu Chuji, Panshan sectarian(盘山派)which was created by Wang Zhijin, Suishan sectarian(随山派)which was created by Liu Chuxuan, Yuxian sectarian(遇仙派)which was created by Ma Yu. They were also cross-linked between each other and jointly contributed to the development of Henan Quanzhen Taoism.The Quanzhen Taoists took full advantages of the deep Taoist cultural traditions after Quanzhen Taoism passed to Henan. In order to develop Henan Quanzhen Taoism become the important area, Quanzhen Taoist through a variety of ways such as holding zhaijiao(斋醮)by doing charity to save lives, which make Quanzhen Taoist actively integrate into the life of local people. Quanzhen Taoism was actively supported by the different class such as the local officials, the common people, the intellectual, who donated land or property to support the Quanzhen Taoist’s activities of Henan in Jin and Yuan Dynasties. By striving of Quanzhen Taoist and supporting from different class, Henan Quanzhen Taoism achieved huge development in Jin and Yuan Dynasties.The influence of Henan Quanzhen Taoism was continued growing in Jin and Yuan Dynasties. From the horizontal orientation, we could found that Henan Quanzhen Taoism has a certain radiation, to the surrounding. From the longitudinal orientation, we could found that the expand of Henan Quanzhen Taoism in Jin and Yuan Dynasties, which had provided many important foundation to the development of Quanzhen Taoism in Ming and Qing Dynasties.
