Preliminary Study Of The Evolution Process And The Burial System Of The Qi Tombs

The Zhou Dynasty is a society with rigid hierarchy and dramatic changes and the tombs are a kind of reflection of social hierarchy, It can also reflect the people’s political, economic and social status in a certain extent. Starting from the Qi tombs and focusing on the grades difference between all kinds of graves, research on the evolution process and the burial system of the Qi tombs must advance the research of archaeological culture and the ancient social system of Qi. This paper starts from the vicissitude of territory to clear the space-time range of the tombs of Qi; then divides the tombs of Qi into four categories and nine period to investigate the stage characteristics, rank difference and evolution process of all kinds of the Qi tombs in all periods of The Zhou Dynasty vertically and horizontally; and to find the process of formation, destruction and conversion of the burial system of the Qi tombs; analyze the deep social reasons for the changes; finally, several problems in the burial system of the Qi tombs is elaborated. Specifically, this paper is structured as follows.The first chapter is introduction part. We starting from the vicissitude of territory of Qi, the space-time range of the paper is clear. At the same time, the Archaeological discovery and study of the Qi tombs is introduced and the purpose and significance of the study in this paper is illustrated.In the second chapter, this paper carry on the classification and staging on the Qi tombs, and the classification standards are described. According to the present data, the Qi tomb is divided into A, B, C, D four groups generally. A class are king tombs, B are the tombs for a high-ranking member of the nobility, C are the tombs for the Generation of nobility, D are for civilian tombs. At the same time, the Qi tombs were divided into nine stages.In the third chapter, first of all, stage characteristics and the rank difference of the Qi tombs is introduced; then the evolution of all kinds of the Qi tombs is investigated; at the same time, according to the characteristics of Qi tombs change, the evolution process of the Qi tombs is generalized into three stages; finally, the reason for the evolution process of the Qi tombs is analyzed.In the fourth chapter, several problems about the burial system of Qi are discussed.The conclusion of this paper is summarized, and points out the difficulties in the study of the Qi tombs and the problems existed.
