In this paper, we study the cemeteries of Jin kingdom, Qucun amd Shangma which range from Zhou dynasty to the Spring and Autumn period. Firstly, according to the literature, we sort out the Du and Shu of the tombs. Secondly, we compare and analyze the different grades, times and people. Finally, we conclude and recovery the burial custom of Jin kingdom.The content of this paper is divided into the following chapters:Chapter 1 is the introduction. Firstly we give the definition of Du and Shu. "Du" means the direction of the skeleton. "Shu" refers to the geometry of the tombs, including aspect ratio of the entrance, bottom and depth. Secondly, the reason that we choose these three cemeteries is discussed thirdly, we summrise outcome and shortcoming of the recently research and give a brief introduction of the feasibility and limitition. Finally, the goal of the paper is to find a scientific method to recovery the burial custom of Jin kingdom.Chapter 2 is the analysis of Du and Shu of Jin kingdom’s tomds. These tombs can be devided into the king’s and their wives. We arrange them according to the time sequence and analyze their Du and Shu. Base on these information, we come to a conclusion of the caharacteristics of these tombs.Chapter 3 is the analysis of Du and Shu of Qucun cemetery. These tombs can be devided into the noble’s and the civilian’s. We arrange them according to the bronze vessels which were found in these tombs. Then the civilian’s tombs can be divided into two levels on the basis of whether there are accompanies or not. According to the directions of the skeleton, the peopele can be seperated into the North, East, West and Sourth. As to the noble’s, we compare their grades on the basis of the methods of excavation and combining with the analysis of the directions of the skelton. We can get information of the features of Du and Shu of these tombs.Chapter 4 is the analysis of Du and Shu of Shangma cemetery. These tombs can be devided into the noble’s and the civilian’s according to whether there are bronze vessels found in the tombs or not. The noble’s tombs are divided into two levels accoring to number of bronze vessels found in tombs. As to the civilian’s, their tombs can be defined into two different grades according to whether there are accompanies found in tombs. We define these tombs as there different times, the Early time, the Middle time and the Late time. Combing with analysis of the directions of different people’s skelton, we can get a conclusion of the features of Du and Shu of these tombs.Chapter 5 is the comparasion of these three tombs. According to the grades, times and people of tombs, we summary the features of different tombs and then recovery burial custom of Jin kingdom.
