Practice Report For Translation Of Steam Turbine Technical Vocabulary

As the leader of global mechanical industry, the translation of relatedliterature of Japan holds a significant position. However, the mechanicalJapanese translation has backward level, and mechanical literature has a fewtranslation documents. For this reason, mechanical thesis in thermal and atomicpower generation conference proceedings of Japan in2013are chose for thistranslation practice, in totally10,000words approximately. The subjects are “theDevelopment and Manufacture for Material of LP Turbine Rotor Shaft Forged bySteel Ingot of670tons”,“Manufacture Technology Development for Material ofUltra Large LP Steam Turbine Rotor Shaft” and “the Development of QualityManagement System of Steam Turbine Rotor in the Course of Welding”.This paper is expected be able to find out the characteristics of mechanicalJapanese vocabulary through the practice of mechanical Japanese translation, andclarify the standard of mechanical Japanese vocabulary translation aim at thecharacteristics and perform the translation standard in the practice of translation.It is expected to classify the mechanical Japanese vocabulary and summarize thetranslation method of vocabulary for each type separately. Utilizing translationskills, such as addition, subtraction and adaptation, the paper could becomesmooth and natural. It is hoped that the precious experience obtained in thecourse of this translation practice could pave the way for future working.
