Research On Henan Drama In1907-1937

Henan province is the hometown of Chinese Opera, and is filled with a strong atmosphere of traditional Chinese Opera culture. However, as a new art style rising in the Late Qing Dynasty, the drama is still experiencing an unpromising development in today’s Henan province. Though Henan province is located in the hinterland of the Central Plains, the drama there has followed the development trend of the times and well integrated into the history of Chinese drama.Although Henan drama goes through ups and downs from time to time, it still drives its way laboriously, showing a commendable climax of performances in the history of Henan drama, enriching the artistic culture in Henan province. Recalling the lessons of experiences from the history of Henan drama, we can also get some inspirations. Based on the1907-1937in the Henan drama’s development, we mainly discuss these following several aspects:The first part:Introduction to the development stage of Henan drama and the development history in1907-1937. In this part, the30years development of Henan drama falls into two periods based on the impact of "May Four" Movement:early stage in the drama of Henan and Henan modern drama consciousness awakening period.The second part:Introduction to the Henan drama groups and their activities like performance. In this part, the drama’s survival outlook nowadays will be presented by the representative drama groups and their performance.The third part:Introduction to the researches of Henan drama productions and the dramatists in1907-1937. In this section, the drama’s artistic appearance of that time will be presented in a great degree by mainly researching the dramas performed by Henan drama groups and the dramatists.The fourth part:Introduction to the development of Henan drama script writing and the social function of drama in1907-1937.
