The Chinese Reading Course plays an important role in Teaching Chinese as aForeign Language. The Chinese Reading teaching needs not only theory asguidance but also teaching practice to promote the development of theoretical study.The theoretical study and the establishment of theory system are to guide the practice.The research achievement on reading theory both at home and abroad has providedtheoretical support for reading teaching practice. Because of the relatively weak in thestudy of teaching theory and methods on Chinese reading course, the pace of reformin Chinese reading teaching has been slowed down in recent years. So far, theguidance of reading teaching theory to Chinese reading teaching practice is less thansatisfactory, and teachers haven’t had a good command of reading skills andtechniques. In addition, there are many problems in classroom teaching and design,teaching facilities, learning environment and reading materials, and also students havetroubles in the process of reading.This text introduces the related concepts of reading and the principle and task ofChinese reading teaching at first. Then suggestions and methods on teaching skillsand techniques are given by the combination of documentary method and fieldworkinvestigation, using author’s experience of Chinese reading courses,classroomobservation and questionnaire survey, aiming at the problems in Chinese readingteaching, considering the level of students, regional influences and the presentlearning situation of those foreign students in Xinjiang’s universities. It is hoped thatthe text could provide the construction of Chinese reading course with methods forreference under the help of its suggestions on Chinese reading teaching.
