The Study Of The Phenomenon Of English Words Inserting In Chinese Female Magazines

The language phenomenon of Chinese-English code-switching in the magazines which major readers are female is studied. Sentences was chosen in5different magazines as language materials. Using modern language study methods of charts, description, compare and contrast, social survey, combined with theory of Pieter Muysken’s code-switching grammar structure, the language materials has been described and analyzed completely. Then the function was discussed, and finally a social survey has been lanched to support the study conclusion.Introduction part includes terms and definitions, research background, rationale and objectives of the thesis, study method and literature reviews which fully described the study aboard and domestic. In the second part, the language materials had been analyzed from two aspects of number, lexicon form, and concluded that the number of word is three times of phrases. Noun, verb, adjectives constitute the main part of word categories, for instance, party, QQ, high and OK. In the third part, the switching category had been analyzed according to Muysken’s grammar theory. The inclusive and short one is defined insertion, the relative one is defined alternation, and the former is3times of the latter one. In the language materials, word modifying occurred, generally in the aspect of number, tense, moreover, some of those English words had to adapted to Chinese grammar and matching uses occurred duing to that. The following part discussed the functions of Chinese-English code-switching concerning the sex. Cover and perform are two main functions showed in this materials. Finally, implementing a social survey has provide the actual data that sex performs vital important role in code-switching in magazines.Criterion of the phenomenon should be took into consideration as soon as possible, some suggestions have been offered here in the last part intending to make some useful enlightenments for relevant study.
