According to the Chinese character semeiology, code-switching function is the basic information function of character system. Code-switching function is the ability of equivalent switch in different symbol system, such as the inter-switching of Chinese characters and Latin letters. This thesis is based on the inter-switch between the transliteration of Chinese and English, trying to discuss the different corresponding characters and the influence for the information processing during the code-switching process.On the base of anterior researches about the transliteration of Chinese and English, this thesis adopt a new sight of view, started from the aspects of code and code-switching, trying to find out the different characters of one-level and two-level code-switching processing, and the conduced problems such as non equivalent switch efficiency and standardization etc., which are established in the distinct code characters of one-level and two-level between Chinese and English. In the introduction, we compare some concepts related with code and code-switching, such as symbol, transliteration, translation and so on.This thesis is consisting of three parts. In chapter one, we probe into the expression and function of one-level English letters and their code-switching processing of the same level. English letters are one-level codes combined with"sounds"and"forms"."Forms"are pure and strict note symbols for"sounds". They have the characters of zero distance which are always have the same conformations...
