Over the recent years, with the rapid development of our country’s economy and the improvement of its international position, the craze for Chinese language has experienced a persistent worldwide overheating. In order to adapt to the latest developmental circumstance of world Chinese-teaching, since2004, the National Office of Chinese Language has initiated to organize and implement the Chinese teachers volunteer program, where the volunteers are recruited at home and dispatched to all places of the world to be engaged in Chinese teaching jobs. Apart from the Chinese language volunteers, Chinese-for-foreigners interns in relevant majors have also been dispatched abroad in vast number to perform teaching practices. As a potential power that is most likely to be fostered into Chinese language volunteers, Chinese language interns are also undertaking the important mission of spreading Chinese culture, therefore, the situation of their cross-culture adaptation should also become a key point of attention. The in-Thailand Chinese language interns from Guangxi University are taken as the research object in this paper. First, an experiment-intervening investigation is conducted over the Chinese language interns to check whether the cross-cultural adaptation strategies in use can effectively promote the interns’cross- cultural adaptation. Then an interview is carried out over the in-Thailand Chinese language interns to investigate into the problems they have encountered during the course of cross-cultural adaptation and analyze the factors affecting cross-cultural adaptation. The full text falls into five chapters, with the following main contents:Chapter One mainly introduces the research background of this paper, proposes the research significance and objectives, and summarizes the related theory of cross-cultural adaptation which including the definition of cross-cultural adaptation, the development history of cross-cultural adaptation studies, classification of cross-cultural adaptation issues and factors affecting cross-cultural adaptation.Chapter Two takes the in-Thailand Chinese language interns as the research object, dividing them into an experimental group and a control group, to conduct over them an intervention study on cross-cultural adaptation strategies, examine the result of using the cross-cultural adaptation strategies, and verify the proposition of this paper that the sense of self-efficacy and social support have a positive impact on the condition of cross-cultural adaptation.Chapter Three is about the problems in and causes for the in-Thailand Chinese language interns’cross-cultural adaptation. This chapter elaborates the interns’condition of cross-cultural adaptation by conducting an in-depth interview over them.Chapter Four is the research analysis and prospection, including the suggestions for the in-Thailand Chinese language interns’cross-cultural adaptation, the research into the existing problems and recommendations for follow-up studies.
