| The increasing focus on the subject of education can be found in both educationalresearchers and average citizens. Meanwhile, we can find numerous domesticresearches and discussions on the techniques of translation. Thus during the translationof U.S. Department of Education Strategic Plan for Fiscal Year2011-2014(StrategicPlan for short), a combination has been made between translation techniques such asthe transformation of verbs and nouns and the translation process. By doing so, thefollowing conclusion has been draw:Firstly, it is confirmed that the translator should be in the pursuit ofcommunicative purpose of the translated material, i.e. providing accurate and abundantinformation on the American education as a whole with specific focus on secondaryand post-secondary education topics, while paying attention to the accuracy, clarity andsimplicity of the translation.Secondly, in the pursuing of the purpose, numerous translation techniques are putinto reasonable practice: to provide accurate and abundant information on theAmerican education, it is crucial for the translator to use parallel text reasonably; toface the lack of specific knowledge of the readers, techniques such as notation andmarking should be used; to encounter the comprehensive ability of the readers, thetranslator should put the techniques on translating long sentences and clauses intopractice.Furthermore, the application of word processing software can be a booster of thetranslation speed as well as fulfilling the purpose of the translated material. |
