Solfeggio is an important elementary class for academy students. As for most music school’s Solfeggio curriculum, Sight singing and ear training are two different but interdependent training processes. Of all the makings of a fine musician, ear training trains students to be aware of, be able to distinguish and be capable of analyzing all the music elements around them; In another words ear training aims to build awareness, coordination and constructive thinking skills for music. Therefore, the ear training process has to focus on the "voluntary music attention" training through numerous practices. The act of mental concentration for the internal physiological activities and external activities; the mental attention choice made towards certain object is thus defined as voluntary music attention. The object of voluntary music attention follows a regular pattern and is often times quite stable. As mentioned before, ear training is the essence of Solfeggio education and one of the most important methods among its training processes are to use various activities to stimulate students’ active music thinking towards their music assignments. That being said, students are asked to stay in the "active listening" zone throughout every training process while at the same time to learn how to allocate their attentions to different elements and reflect on what they’ve learned.Based on her constructive research on the topic, the author tries to further theorize the teaching of "voluntary music attention" thus makes it better adapted to practical teaching. In different chapters of the dissertation/essay the author will analyze different characteristics of voluntary music attention and propose a series of effective music training methods. The author’s methods seeks more scientific, practical and systematic ways to teach and train students.
