The old-themed movies are the hot film types gradually concerned and presented in recent years, more exactly, the global film and TV industry have sparked a revolution about "RED" since the1990s, especially in Hollywood. This phenomenon coincided with a world-wide entered the era of an aging society in context are inextricably linked. Generally, the old-themed movies are almost adopting gentle and refined camera language, unsophisticated and exquisite narrative style. Although by "little cipher, little stories, little cost" film production, they were highly favored by all major Film Festivals, as well as the whole society to have reflections on life and family ethics.The perspective of this thesis selected the western as an entry point, because the developed countries have done an earlier transition and transformation from mid-life to aging society, they have more comprehensive knowledge and experience about all kinds of problems and challenges with the advent of aging society. Moreover, in the choice of theme and subject, the western old-themed movies are not only discussed widely and studied on depth, but also have presented the developing trend of the type film. Even more important is that, in the area of film market, the shrewd Hollywood have found that the old people are most likely to become a new main force of future audience. Certainly, some of the film makers with compassionate humanitarian:vitality, were expressing the marginalized survival condition and lonely mental condition of the old person who have long been ignored and forgotten, in order to raise the concern and thought of the whole society about how to treat the old people.The prologue mainly analyzed the purpose and significance of study topics in this paper, and indicated the research state, difficulties:and creation of the western old-themed movies since1990s.
