Comparative Analysis On The Generalization Of Kinship Terms In Chinese And Korean

Language is the most important tool for communication. In the process of the verbal communication, the issue of appellation will be inevitably involved in. China and South Korea are neighbors geographically. Within the same Chinese cultural circle, the two nations are subject to the influence of Confucianism ideologically. Therefore, the two languages share some similarities.Proceeding from the generalization of kinship terms, the paper has launched an investigation on the use of kinship terms to address unrelated people in daily life by interviewing100Chinese and50South Koreans, so as to identify the Chinese and Korean kinship terms and the variants that can be used to address unrelated people. What’s more, the similarities and the differences between two languages in terms of the generalization of kinship terms are also explored.In addition, the author also gave interviews to Chinese in South Korea and Korean in China respectively to compare with local people on the use of kinship terms in local language to address unrelated people, expecting to promote the development of lexicology and social linguistics and provide the reference for TCFL.
