Kun Opera, known as the mother of Chinese opera has an intact system of fivedifferent types. The five types can also be divided into “twenty roles”. Among these typesand roles, the study of Jing Type has been marginalized. Historical documents andspecialized studies are rare. Studies on Jing Type only focus on the origin of Jing Type andperiodic research as well. This paper’s main concern is Jing Type of Kun Opera. Theauthor summarizes the development and evolvement of Jing Type from macro perspectiveand analyzes the development road of Jing Type, from the embryo to the ripe stage. Thispaper studies the differentiation of Jing Type and Chou Type by the means of organizingthe development process and takes a holistic approach of the stage art of Jing type on thebackground of stage. This paper also analyzes the artistic features of movement directions,spoken parts of the opera, singing, libretto and facial paintings, and investigates the uniqueWhite Jing type. Besides, this paper studies the integrated work “The Collections of KunOpera Jing type”. Hence the author draws the conclusion that the development of Jing typeis a process of refinement, from funny acting to serious performance. The unique methodof stage acting makes Jing Type very popular and presents the special artistic charm of KunOpera.
