Research On The Regret Propensity Of College Students

The tendency of regret pays attention to personality characteristic and individual difference while regretting.As a pervasive mental phenomenon, regret has great influence on healthy of psychology and satisfactory to life. Refer to regret, usually helpless depression is felt with feeling of chagrin together and it can make people feel uncomfortable in some aspects, but regret has great positive effect on that inspirit person to demand perfect and never make same mistakes, etc. For the moment, most study regard regret as a kind of emotion with close correlation with decision,and few discuss in direction of personality. Therefore, this article will make discussion about characteristic of regret refer to undergraduate in direction of personality.Based on overviews of former researches, by dint of personality dimensionality configuration of Lai Zhigang,I expurgate relative questionnaire taking undergraduate characteristic into consideration on basis of opening questionnaire,following steps of questionnaire forming strictly, and finally complete undergraduate personality tendency questionnaire consisting of15items and2dimensionality and also do analysis about reliability check-up and configuration model of questionnaire, and analyze the characteristic of regret tendency in aspect of demography. In addition, taking sentence completing projection test validates regret tendency model again, and provides evidence for configuration model of regret tendency. The main conclusions gained from this article are as follows:(1) The questionnaire containing15items after being expurgated has good reliability, and can be as a tool for further study. Undergraduate regret tendency can be reviewed in two dimensionalities of susceptibility and reaction.(2) Regarding demology variable, regret tendency has obvious sexual difference, collegegirls are higher than college boys about susceptibility dimensionality and final score; there is obvious difference about regret reaction dimensionality and final score between different grades, the score of junior is obviously higher than that of freshman and sophomore, the score of senior is obviously higher than that of freshman,the score of sophomore is obviously higher than that of freshman, it is more or less between junior and senior; regarding susceptibility, the score of junior is obviously higher than that of sophomore, the rest is almost same; there is not obvious difference between undergraduates of different majors regarding regret tendency dimensionality and score.(3) The susceptibility of regret tendency has positive correlation with neuroticism and openness of the Big Five Personality, but has less correlation with extraversion, agreeableness and conscientiousness; The reaction of regret tendency has positive correlation with neuroticism of the Big Five Personality and has negative correlation with extraversion and agreeableness,and has less correlation with openness; In all words, regret tendency has positive correlation with neuroticism of Big Five Personality and has negative correlation with extraversion and agreeableness, and has less correlation with conscientiousness. The neuroticism, conscientiousness and openness can forecast the susceptibility of regret tendency obviously, and neuroticism and agreeableness can forecast reaction of regret tendency obviously, and neuroticism and conscientiousness can forecast regret tendency obviously.(4) Each dimensionality of regret tendency and final score have negative correlation with self-esteem obviously and have positive correlation with perfectism. Self-esteem does adjustability to the relation between perfectism and regret tendency.(5) Regret tendency has negative correlation with anxiety and depression, and the scores of high anxiety and of high depression persons are higher than those of lower.(6) I get same personality regret model as questionnaire after sentence completing projection test. The consistency of different methods provides evidence for stability of personality regret configuration, and is support of personality regret model.
