Variety of schools is a very important part in the culture of the Qin. The factors of geography, civilization and communication of music, have impacted the generation and development of all schools significantly. Meanwhile, the characteristics of music style, playing style, and books of each school can be important objects when we study the art of the Qin. In this article, the author tries to make a brief analysis to the music work as well as the characteristics of Jiuyi School, which was derived from the area around Beijing in early20th century.Jiuyi Qin Institute was founded in1915in Beijing, by Mr. Zongji YANG, who is recognized as the father of Jiuyi School. The school Zongji represented is named after him, because he has an alias as "Anchorite in Jiuyi Mountain". Zongji wrote a monumental work "A collection of Qin Study", with43volumes and more than700,000characters. This book is the only theoretic work of Jiuyi School. Herewith, the author uses two pieces of work in the book as study objects.This article includes two parts. In part one, the author analyzed the structure and characteristics of the version of "Dialog between Fisherman and Woodcutter" and "Wild Geese over the Clam Sands" in Zongji’s book. In part two, by comparing and analyzing these two pieces of music work, the author summarized and made a brief analysis about the characteristics of Jiuyi School, which include the practice of Zongji’s playing style of Yin and Nao, the playing style of Jiuyi School and the culture inheritance of Jiuyi School. The purpose of this article is to address the importance of Jiuyi School, as a young school in the development of the culture of the Qin, by studying the music and the characteristics of Jiuyi School. |
