Application Of Omission In The Translation Of Legal Literature

This is a translation report and it illuminates the translating process and sums upthe author’s notion after doing the translation of “Acceptance” in Contracts (4thEdition). The author’s translation material comes from contracts, Nutshell Series,4thedition. As a legal textbook, Contracts is well-received by a large number of scholars athome and abroad because it has a great influence on students, professional lawyers andothers and thus brings an enormous helpfulness to these people for their study andwork.This report is divided into four parts. The first part is a brief introduction to thetranslation material including its background, goal and the significance of thistranslation. The second part is to present the specific background of the original textincluding the authors of this book, the context of the material and the evaluation of thismasterpiece. The third and fourth parts form the core part, where the translatingproblems and the process of dealing with these problems are explained, the translationskills used during the translation practice are presented, and the experience and theremaining challenges are discussed. In this translation report, the author discusses sometheories and feasible translation skills in the translation of legal literature. The authormainly concentrates on the conciseness, flexibility and readability of the translated legalliterature and elaborately discusses the translation skills of omission in the light ofskopos theory and from the aspects of grammar，rhetoric and the discourse arrangement.
