This is a translation report for chapter2to chapter5of Copyright Law in A Nutshell,2nd Ed. The Nutshell Series consists of a series of pragmatic law books written by law professors with extensive teaching experience, such as Mary LaFrance, who is the writer of Copyright Law in A Nutshell. The Nutshell Series is hugely popular in the United States, and is always used as ancillary materials by law school students and solicitors. The Copyright Law in A Nutshell,2nd edition was first published in2011. We may get knowledge of rules, regulations and cases of copyright law through it, and promote the development of copyright law in our country. This book has no Chinese edition, and it is the first time to be translated into Chinese, so that more Chinese readers will have the chance to read it.This translation report consists of five chapters. Chapter one introduces the background, significance, introduction of original text and structure of this translation project. Chapter two is about target word selection and context in translation with translation examples of "idea/expression dichotomy","contribute" and "useful articles". Chapter three talks about the translation strategies for the professional terms such as "sweat of the brow" and "orphan works", as well as the ways to select literal translation or free translation. Chapter four displays several translation examples for case titles, and the translation methods will be discussed such as transliteration and free translation. Chapter five concludes the experiences and lessons of this translation project.
