Since entering the new century, Jia Pingwa’s creation concentrates on lingeringand lamentation of country, for which he writes the novel Qin-qiang. Then his anothernovel Joy appears, by means of realism, describing the lives of the farmers get awayfrom the country, throwing themselves into the city. Although the two novels’ havegreat differences on creation background, there’s transitivity about the lingering onthe declining country, and the development times when farmers eventually gettingaway from it.Qin-qiang is a sigh to the declining country. It takes up the lamentation of localculture’s fate, the helpless and sadness on the dilapidated and failing country homes.It seems that the country life is so lively, however, it shows endless sadness and worryabout the present situation of country life, and the confusing about its future. Joy turnsthe vision from country to the city, recording the farmers’ hungry for the city’srecognition, and make great efforts to melt into the city. It shows the decay of farmers,also the big differences between the country and city. The always existing problemsand contradiction can be seen through it.This paper aims to analysis the present situation and development direction ofland and traditional culture in our current great times, improving understanding thedifference between country and city through analyzing the living condition after thefarmers throwing themselves into the city. At last, to exploring the current status ofthe country development and running-in relationship between urban and rural areasthrough the research of the transitivity between the two novels.
