As a research report of the machine-aided translation experiment taking the hypertext of "The Open Boat" as the source text, this thesis largely illustrates the research result related to the translation experiment. The functional translation theory and numerous translation practices show that translation is a procedural and purposeful human being’s production and practice activity with specific benefits expectation. And in the view of application research, translation is not only an action and a process, but an industry and a means of making a living. In the21st century, translation industry has been increasingly developed and normalized, and translation action has been accordingly marketized and gradually professionalized. Meanwhile, the conflict between specialization and professionalization has been increasingly highlighted. How to evaluate and handle translation efficiency has become an important issue in the present.Based on the skopos theory of translation, this translation experiment aims to discuss, in the context of the marketization and industrialization of translation, how to mediate the conflict between the quality of the target text and its corresponding consequences faced by the translator, the intermediary and the client, and how to effectively perform machine-aided translation to improve the translators’ translation efficiency. It also attempts to explore, when exploiting the commonly used translation tool "YOUDAO.dic" and taking the hypertext of "The Open Boat" as the source text, which genre is more likely to achieve the relatively maximum translation efficiency on the basis of what "translation unit".The procedures of this translation experiment are described as follows:Firstly, it discusses such correlative factors as option of translation tools, manipulation of translation process, discussion and confirmation of translation unit, utilization of translation means and the target text evaluation, which all have profound influences on the translation, and also analyzes the interrelations among them. Secondly, the quality evaluation system of the target text is designed and formulated on the basis of "Plural Complementarism of Translation Standard" and "The National Standard of the People’s Republic of China: The Target Text Quality Requirements for Translation Services" as well as other research findings from translation research and practices. Thirdly, taking the hypertext of "The Open Boat" as the source text and drawing on the translation tool "YOUDAO.Dic", the author of the report carries out the machine translation experiment and the machine-aided translation experiment. And during the intervals, the quality evaluation of the target texts and translation efficiency about the translation experiments are conducted to test and verify the pre-established_quality evaluation system of the target text. Lastly, the translation experiment is summarized and reviewed.According to the experiment results, this research report concludes that:(1) the quality evaluation system of the target text based on the "Plural Complementarism of Translation Standard" could play a much more practical role in the improvement of translation efficiency;(2) by referring to the quality evaluation system of the target text and properly regulating and controlling human-machine interactive translation actions, a translator can improve the translation efficiency to some extent; and (3) as to the translation action taking the hypertext of "The Open Boat" as the source text, translation efficiency of the genre of Narrative is relatively higher depending on the translation unit of "sense group" and the commonly used translation tools "YOUDAO.dic".
