Down to the countryside movement began in the middle of the twentiethCentury and ended at the end of1970s. There are1.3million educated youths beforethe Great Cultural Revolution and17million educated youths come to the countrysideand frontier of China during the movement. This lasted movement not only changesthe fate of the generation of educated youth, but also has a great impact on China.Sending down young intellectuals to the countryside in Xinjiang was not only inthe background of national movement but also in the lack of labor and receivesmainland young intellectuals. According to the article, the first stage of the movementin Xinjiang was from1962to1965.This stage was mainly about Shanghai youngintellectuals came to This stage was mainly about Shanghai young intellectuals cameto Xinjiang, and were placed into the production and construction corps. From1968to1980was the second stage of the movement. In addition to part of the non-nativeyoung intellectuals, the young intellectuals were mostly form different parts ofXinjiang The main way of placement was scattered. This movement promoted thedevelopment of agriculture and animal husbandry in Xinjiang, and also pushedforward the development of Xinjiang’s science and education.It also injected somenew ethos in Xinjiang, and tempered the generation’s heart, promoted the unity ofvarious nationalities at the same time.This paper reviews this time1962-1980years Xinjiang intellectruals process,and in-depth study of the intellectual youth have made to the development andconstruction of Xinjiang’s contribution. Through this research, provide a usefulreference for today’s knowledge youth employment distribution and the developmentof Xinjiang.
