The Study On Female Discourse In Yan’an Literature

The female discourse in Yan’an literature is a kind of discourse practice whichcomes into being in the combining process of women’s liberation and nationalemancipation. It is different from western female discourse which constructs femalediscourse by means of deconstructing male discourse. Based on the analysis andsummary of the combining features of female discourse in Yan’an literature, this thesiswill give an interpretation on women’s works in Yan’an literature. It aims to reveal themeanings and significance of female discourse in Yan’an literature in the current study offemale literary criticism and creation.The first chapter first introduces the relationship between female discourse andfemale literature. Then it analyzes the unique background in which female discourse inYan’an literature came into being. Yan’an literary not only has the powerful nationaldiscourse but also has the possibility for the forming of female discourse. The reasons areas follows: female intellectuals went all out and pursued revolutionary cause after theeruption of Anti-Japanese War, which provides an opportunity for the production offemale discourse in Yan’an literature; the Women Policy of Communist Party of China isthe guarantee for the production of female discourse in Yan’an literature; culturalexchange and integration is the inner driving force for the generation of female discoursein Yan’an literature.The second chapter introduces the integrating features of female discourse in Yan’anliterature, that is, the integration of female intellectuals and workers and common people;the integration of female liberation and national emancipation; the integration ofwomen’s folk perspective and foreign culture; and the integration of female’s langueapplication and male’s parole symbols. Through the interpretation of the works of women writers in Yan’an literature, thethird chapter will analyze the narrative features of female discourse in Yan’an periodfrom three aspects of discourse expresser, discourse contents——“story” and discoursestyle. The team of discourse expresser gets expanded after its integration with womenfrom different works of life; the content of the “story” presents the integration of femaleliberation and national emancipation. It reflects the pursuit of female discourse forrevolutionary topics; discourse style is characterized with a kind of “hard andstrong-minded” national spirits and it also demonstrates an introverted feminist stanceand the simple, innocent female narrative strategies.The fourth chapter analyzes the era significance of female discourse in Yan’anLiterature. From the perspective of female literary criticism, it is not only beneficial tofill the gap caused by western female literary criticism which is centered on criticizingpatriarchy, but also beneficial to remove the “visual impairment” caused by the singleemphasis on women’s subjective consciousness in the context of new enlightenment;from the perspective of female literary creation, it is not only beneficial to break thesuperficial sexual desire narrative states of “body writing” and also to deepen theconnotation of "body Writing". What’s more, it is helpful to broaden women’s privateclaustrophobic writing space and expand the creative vision of female literature.
