A Research On The Service Of Universities For The Local Cultural Industries

In recent years, how to develop the emerging culture industry has attracted much attention.Being a think tank and gathering place full of talents, universities provide public services such ashuman resources，technology support and guidance for cultural trend; they also turn theachievements of scientific research into productivity and economic benefits of culture industry.Universities serve as an important driving force in keeping continuous innovation anddevelopment for culture industry. However, by far, domestic studies for the culture industry arestill not rich enough. Some of them analyze in terms of discipline construction, others expoundfrom the perspective of personnel training. Integrated practices or cases studies on the roleuniversities play in the culture industry are relatively rare.This thesis chooses Quanzhou Normal University, which is located in Quanzhou, a historic cityof East Asian culture, as a typical case for study. With the method of document research and caseanalysis employed, the thesis makes a close study based on the new public service theory and theservice-oriented government theory. It starts from relevant research and development status of theculture industry, then analyze the universities’ role in working for local culture industry and thereasons for the existing problems. With the light of local universities’ responsibility in guiding theculture trend and serving the society, the thesis attempts to explore local cultural resources. At thesame time, it takes features of local culture industry into consideration and takes examples fromtypical cases and experiences of foreign universities. New ways are explored in the paper topromote the development of culture industry from the viewpoint of service-oriented universities.The practical significance of the thesis lies in that it puts forward six countermeasures includingimproving operating mechanism, enhancing service efficiency, establishing personnel trainingsystem, building service platform, effecting the role of the culture industry in nurturinguniversities in reverse.
