This paper takes the folk songs in the middle reaches of the Huaihe River Basin of AnhuiProvince as the research object. From the perspective of musical geography, I have made a furtherresearch of the space distribution and historical changes of the folk songs in the Huaihe RiverBasin of Anhui Province by means of a large amount of field work. I try to find out thecharacteristics of distribution and the rheological law of the folk songs in the Huaihe River Basinof Anhui Province, and explore the formation mechanism of folk songs in different areas.According to the environment of geography and humanities of the Huaihe River Basin andthe field research, the folk songs in this region are divided into three types which are named folksongs in valley, folk songs in mountainous region and folk songs in hills. On the basis ofcomprehensive discussion about the geography and humanities and the characteristics of the folksongs in valley, folk songs in mountainous region and folk songs in hills, I name the first one thefolk songs in valley which are sung in the dialect of north Anhui Province and in the valley areawith the characteristic of Jiangsu folk songs, and they are very bold. I name the second one thefolk songs in mountainous region which are sung in the local dialect in the mountain area. Theyare very loud and sonorous and have the feature of falsetto. I name the third one the folk songs inhills which are sung in hill area. They have an exquisite melody and sound funny. They have amixed style where the folks songs in different regions transit. I have made a further field researchabout the spread, variation and historical changes of the three types of folk songs. Through thisstudy, we can conclude that, as one of music culture, the folk songs are migratory songs under aspecific time. Under the combined effect of geographic factor and human factor of a specificregion, there will be variations when the folk songs are spreading. Normally, the folk songs fromother places will be assimilated selectively by the local geography and humanities environment, and they will become the local folk songs finally. The chapter one of this paper states the region definition of the Huaihe River Basin of AnhuiProvince, the research status and significances of this subject, the specific research methods andthe achievements of a large amount of field work. The chapter two expounds the distribution andthe general characteristics of the folk songs in the Huaihe River Basin of Anhui Province from theperspective of geography and humanity. The chapter three in the following is about the specificreport of the filed work and the research of the historical changes of the folk songs which combinewith the field work. Finally, I make a generalization and abstraction of the research findingsmentioned before in the conclusion.
