Murakami is one of the representative figure of Song ci studies in Japan, and hisstudies is known as Japan’s first formal study of ci. This book presents the outline ofMurakami’s research in ci and covers every field in Song ci researching. It has greatsignificance for the expansion and inspiration of domestic research on ci to ascertainthe appearance and characteristics of Japanese Song ci study by reviewing,discussing,summarizing Murakami’s study systematically. According to Japanesescholars about China’s focus in the study of ci and the available materials, the paperwill choose some focal points to write in details while others in brief. In the firstchapter the paper will reveals the origin of ci in the unique perspective of Murakami,as he take on the view of the similarities and differences between poetry and ci. Thischapter also will present Murakami’s comprehensivediscussion of north and southsong ci.He advocated wild and graceful for dispatching ci instead of realistic andelegant, for offsetting the shortcoming of the old factions. And then, in the secondchapter the paper will analyze the study of Liu Yong,Su Shi,Xin QIji and WuWenying as special cases.In the third chapter the paper will sum up the features ofMurakami’s study. And in the last chapter discusses his history status and influenceof ci.
