Problems And Solutions In Translating Distribution Agreement Of Leoni Company

This paper is a reflective report based on the translation of DistributionAgreement of Leoni Company and it will analyze the translation in three aspects:pre-translation preparations, the translation process and post-translation qualityassurance. In translating the Distribution Agreement, the author adopted severaltranslation methods and strategies, such as transliteration, free translation and transferof word meaning. Moreover, schema theory was applied in solving some problems inthe translation practice; and the theory places high value on the use of backgroundknowledge. For translating the source text well, the author analyzed the features ofthe source text, including the use of formal and normative words as well as archaicwords and abbreviations. Next, the author discussed the problems in the translationprocess, such as the translation of company name, meaning transfer of commonwords, translation of “shall”,“must” and where”, etc. Finally, the author proposedspecific translation strategies and methods to solve above problems. The authorwishes it to provide reference for other translators to solve similar problems bywriting this paper.
