| The human beings are always full of curiosity for the unknown. Either Asiansor Westerners are fascinated by the distant, unfamiliar, mysterious and exoticnovelty. Cai Yuanpei, former president of Peking University,once said:"Art is theonly universal language." The exchange and integration of Eastern and Western art,can break through. The boundaries of race, region, religion, can be broken throughthe exchange and integration of Eastern and Western art, which is the universallanguage of dialogue. In a result of promoting the prosperity of the humancivilization, and the common development and progress of the Eastern and Westerncultures.Monet is one of the most influential European painters in the19th century. Theachievements of his oil paintings are recognized. From Monet’s paintings, it couldbe seen the pursuit of light and color of impressionists. Meanwhile, the theme withan oriental taste, composition, color, brush strokes can be observed in his paintings.This study focuses on Oriental taste of Monet paintings. Through in-depthanalysis of the oriental taste contained in Monet paintings, it can be seen the underdifferent cultural backgrounds, the exchange of artistic styles of different paintingart, the blending possibility of different aesthetic characters.The paper first discusses the direct impact of the Japan Ukiyo-e art painting onMonet, and the common performance practices between traditional Chinese paintingand Monet’s painting. The discussion on Monet’s influence by the Japan Ukiyo-e artpainting and traditional Chinese painting, lays a foundation for the discussion on therepresentation of the oriental taste in Monet’s paintings.Through the analysis of the representation of the oriental taste in Monet’spaintings, it can be revealed that the exchange and integration of Eastern andWestern art works in the nineteenth century. Thus, it shows that the development ofthe oil painting at present should keep trying innovative approaches. |
