Application Of Communication Strategies In Simultaneous Interpreting And Its Effects On Information Accuracy-a Case Study

The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the application of communicationstrategies in simultaneous interpretation and its relationship with the accuracy ofinformation conveyed. The research is based on the review of former studies on thecommunication strategies applied in interpreting and a detailed case study. The authortook the bilingual materials of the simultaneous interpreting of Barack Obama’sinaugural speech on November7,2012as the case study object and analyzed theinformation accuracy of the interpreters’ performance and the communicationstrategies applied.Through careful analysis and observation, the author intends to detect therelationship between the communication strategies applied and the informationaccuracy of simultaneous interpreting. And by introducing the rationale behind the useof communication strategies in interpretation and its effect on information accuracy,the author expects further improvements to be made in the interpretation qualitythrough proper application of certain communication strategies.
