| The collection of folk contract documents is an very important aspect in the study ofChinese social and economic history. With high historical value and great significance,contract documents reflected the reality of economic development during that period of time.By collecting and analysing these land contract documents Fujian Dehua County from QingDynasty to the Republic of China, this thesis tends to offer a specific classification for allthese contract documents, on a basis of research results of those advanced scholars.This thesis consists of four chapters. Chapter1mainly explains the origin anddevelopment of ancient contracts as well as the characteristics of contract documents.Meanwhile, contract documents are classified according to different classification standardsand methods. Then, the process of signing a contract document and also those severalimportant aspects included in a whole contract document are analysed in this chapter. Chapter2gives a simple introduction to Fujian Dehua County, mainly consisting of history evolution,region, characteristics of geology and geomorphology, property and so on. The developmentof those local contract documents will be briefly introduced, mainly concerning on theformation and development, conservation methods and the distinguished characteristics ofcontract documents in Fujian Dehua County. Chapter3offers a specific classification forcontract documents in Fujian Dehua County from six aspects, including Sale Contracts,Bargain Contracts, Tenancy Contracts, Transfer Contracts and so on. Through long-termpractice of both the government and the folk, contract documents come to a relative fixedmanipulate formats, based on continuous adjustments and perfection. Chapter4specificallyexplains the formation of contract documents in Fujian Dehua County, from the followingaspects: both sides of trade, the intermediate person, the origin of the land, the reason of sale,illustrations of the subject matter and so on. |
