| Objective:To explore the clinical features, risk factors and treatment of vaginal intraepithelial neoplasia. Methods:A retrospective review was undertaken of 89 cases with histologically confirmed VAIN from July 2013 to April 2015 in First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. Results:Among 89 cases, including 26 VAIN1, 27 VAIN2, 36 VAIN3, mostly was asymptomatic, 85% of lesions located in the upper third of the vagina, often involving the vaginal dimpling in the hysterectomy cases. 42 cases had abnormal cytology, 57 cases had HPV infection. 70 cases had cervical disease( concomitant or antecedent CIN or cancer), 22 cases had hysterectomy, including 17 cases because of cervical disease. The positive rates of cytology and HPV with or without hysterectomy among without concomitant cervical disease patients were not statistical significance. The difference between HPV infection, abnormal cytology, history of hysterectomy and different grades of VAIN was not statistical significance, but there was statistically significant difference in history of cervical disease(concomitant or antecedent CIN or cancer). The median interval of VAIN diagnose after hysterectomy with or without cervical disease was 3years and 6 years, it was statistical significance. The treatment to different grades of VAIN with Interferon was not statistical significance. The treatment to high-grade of VAIN with or without hysterectomy using Interferon was not statistical significance.Conclusion:1) It was suitable for VAIN diagnose with the process of abnormal cytology, colposcopy and colposcopically-guided biopsy of suspicious areas. 2) It was necessary to strictly follow-up of cervical disease, especially in 3 years after hysterectomy for cervical disease. The higher level of VAIN accompany with the higher level of cervical disease.3)Surgical treatment success rate was high, but interferon was not advised to treat high-grade VAIN with hysterectomy. |
