| Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of percutaneous pedicle screw fixation(PPSF)with vertebroplasty and open pedicle screw fixation(OPSF) for thoracolumbar fracture without neurologic deficits. Methods: Two independent investigators identified eligible studies through structured keyword searches in databases including Pub Med, Pub Med, OVID, Cochrane Central, EMBASE, CNKI, VIPS and WANGFANG databases through Jan 2016. Data were analyzed using Rev Man 5.0 software by the Cochrane Collaboration. Result: Six studies including 342 patients met the inclusion. The Meta analysis found there were significant differences in intraoperation blood loss, operation time, hospital stay and VAS pain assessments(P<0.05). For the correction of sagittal cobb’s angle, the anterior vertebral body height and the side-effects, analysis did not find any significant difference between the two kinds of operation method(P>0.05). Conclusion: The limited literature analysis show that the PPSF with vertebroplasty have similar effects to the OPSF in short term follow-up,while PPSF with vertebroplasty may cause less trauma, cost less time and recover more quickly, but further study is needed. |
