Objective To study the differences of the cephalometry parameters between Uighur and Han male patients with severe obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS) in Xinjiang,as well as the correlation between the Uvula-middle pharyngeal wall(U-MPW) or posterior airway space(PAS) and the constituent ratio determined by Apnea Gragh(AG) in the preoperative localization of obstructive plane,so as to provide a more accurate reference for surgical treatment of Uighur male patients with upper airway narrowing. Methods The 30 Uygur and 43 Han adult male patients who were diagnosed with severe OSAHS(AHI>30times/h) by polysomnography(PSG) underwent AG or cephalometric.Comparison of two groups of patients with SNA, SNB, ANB, PNS-P, MP-H, SPD, PAS, UMPW and age,the lowest oxygen saturation,AHI,BMI.There are 24 Uygur in which patients were perfect AG and cephalometric,A correlation analysis was performed between the percentage of upper or lower level obstructions by AG and U-MPW or PAS evaluated by cephalometric analysis. Results No statistically significant differences in SNA, SNB, ANB, PNS-P, MP-H, SPD,PAS, U-MPW,age,the lowest oxygen saturation,AHI of uygur and Han(p>0.05).Uygur patients with BMI larger than Han patients(p<0.05).The constituent ratio more than 50% of the upper level obstructions(exclude merger nasal cavity and nasopharynx diseases) had a negative rectilinear correlation with the data of U-MPW(r=-0.544,p<0.05), and the constituent ratio more than 30% of the lower level obstructions(exclude bilateral lateral pharyngeal and tonsil hypertrophy) had a negative rectilinear correlation with the data of PAS(r=-0.543,p<0.05).Conclusions Cephalometry parameters can be better applied to the preoperative localization of obstructive plane of Uighur OSAHS patients, excluding nasal and nasopharyngeal diseases and bilateral tonsil hypertrophy, AG and cephalometric plane blocking better consistency determination in the preoperative localization of obstructive plane in the Uygur male patients with severe OSAHS,and joint use of both can improve the accuracy of analyzing plane upper airway obstruction.
