Objective:There is a lack of wound assessment method currently for refractory sinus wounds owing to its complexity. Hence, this study was designed to establish a new and accurate assessment method for refractory sinus wounds with the aim to support surgical plans and operations.Method:A patient with tuberculous sinus in the back was chosen as an example. Her wound was visualized by Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI). Then, the data was input into the medical three-dimensional reconstruction software Mimics10.01 in order to carry out the three-dimensional reconstruction of refractory sinus wounds.Result:A three-dimensional model of the refractory sinus wound was successfully established. It was able to clearly show the internal morphology of the wound, the anatomical relation between inflamed tissue and normal tissue as well as the track and depth of the sinus. Moreover, the internal structure of the refractory sinus wound could be observed from different angles by rotating, translating and scaling the model. Conclusion:This method which using magnetic resonance imaging and three-dimensionalreconstruction could reveal the detailed conformation of refractory sinus wounds.Consequently, it could contribute a lot to preoperative assessment of complex wounds, surgical planning, risk analysis as well as effective communication between doctors and patients.
