A Survey On The Cognitive Status About Late Life Depression By Psychiatrists In Gansu Province

Objective:To understand the Gansu province psychiatrist’s the cognitive status about late life depression,to analyze different factors have influence on the disease cognitive or not,to provide scientific basis for the prevention and treatment of late life depression in the future.Methods: On the basis of reading a large number of literature,designing questionnaire about the need for prevention and treatment about late life depression, it was filled in by participants themselves under the guidance of the investigators. This study conducted among 14 hospitals including Lanzhou,Baiyin,Pingliang,Dingxi,Longnan and Wuwei in Gansu Province. 212 questionnaires were sent to these hospitals, and 174 of them were collected, the recovery rate was 82.08%. one invalid questionnaire was excluded,so obtained 173 effective questionnaires, the effective rate was 99.43%. Epidata was used in logging data and SPSS 17.0 was used in the analysis of statistics. Chi-square test was used in comparison between the groups.Results: 173 psychiatrists were surveied, 45.66 percent people’ tenure was between five and ten years, 53.18 percent person was primary title, 53.76 percent person was undergraduate. The results of the survey showed that, psychiatrists in Gansu province believed that the most difficult to treat, and the most common disease were sleep disorder with depression, dementia(mainly refers to Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s) with depression and chronic kidney disease or long-term dialysis patients with depression among these fifteen late life depression with somatic diseases. They accounted for 43.93%, 42.78% and 53.18% of the disease in each group. There was significant statistical difference in different professional title and length of service of psychiatrists on sleep disorder with depression, stroke with depression, malignant tumors associated with depression, dementia with depression, coronary heart disease in patients with depression and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with depression; There was statistical difference in the different degree of psychiatrists on sleep disorder with depression, chronic asthma with depression, stroke patients with depression, hypertension with depression, heart failure with depression and chronic kidney disease with depression; There was significant statistical difference in different unit of psychiatrists on sleep disorder with depression, digestive system diseases with depression, dementia with depression, malignant tumor with depression, chronic kidney disease with depression, hypertension with depression, coronary heart disease in patients with depression and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with depression. For the treatment of sleep disorder with depression, dementia with depression and chronic kidney disease with depression, the psychiatrists thought that the most effective and safe treatment was mirtazapine, citalopram and neurostan respectively, the proportion of these three drugs in the treatment of the corresponding diseases were 57.23%, 49.13% and 49.71% respectively. There was a significant statistical difference between the effect of different professional title and seniority psychiatrists on the treatment of sleep disorder with depression of traditional Chinese medicine、mirtazapine、olanzapine, dementia with depression of citalopram、neurostan, chronic kidney disease with depression of nursing and psychological treatment; There was a significant statistical difference between the effect of different degree and unit of psychiatrists on the treatment of sleep disorder with depression of traditional Chinese medicine 、mirtazapine, dementia with depression of citalopram、neurostan, chronic kidney disease with depression of nursing treatment.Conclusion: The psychiatrists on the understanding of late life depression with somatic diseases, and the corresponding treatment options is different in Gansu province; Psychiatrists with different titles、seniority、academic qualifications and units have different understanding of the somatic diseases with late life depression and the corresponding treatment options.
