ObjectiveTo know more about the clinical, tomography/computed tomography, histological examination characters of the malignant melanoma in the pleura, improve the public acknowledge of the malignant melanoma.Method Reported a case of a detailed clinical and pathological pleural malignant melanoma,image data, and combining with literature, on the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of the disease imaging and pathological features were analyzed.DesignA case reportCaseA 65-year-old male patient with symptoms of cough, expectoration and dyspnea for fifteen days.Thoracoscopy reveals multiple grey nodules on the right parietal pleura and diaphragmatic pleura. Pathological diagnosis reveals the fusiform tumor cells with nest-like and clumps distribution, infiltrative growth. Immunohistochemistry staining reveals positive reaction of S-100,HMB-45, Vimentin, Ki-67.Diagnosis of malignant melanoma of the pleura was made.ResultThe disease of Pleural malignant melanoma is lack of characteristic clinical manifestations, common symptoms such as cough, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, chest X-ray, CT shows a large amount of pleural effusion, thoracoscope do help to the diagnosis of disease, diagnosis depends on pathology and immunohistochemistry.Conclusionmalignant melanoma in the pleura is a rare kind of disease,no matter it orignal from the pleura or translate from other organs, and the result is not good, the gold standard of diagnose depends on immunohistochemistry. Since the small number of cases, there is no systemic treatment of pleural malignant melanoma, malignant melanoma targeted therapy can be extended to a certain extent, progression-free survival of patients, but overall, the prognosis of pleural malignant melanoma compared with malignant melanoma of the skin is more rapid progress, the prognosis is even worse.
