Objective:1. to evaluate the prevalence and development trend of syphilis in General Hospital of Tianjin Medical University, and analysis their age, sex, occupation, type of syphilis, education and treatments.as well as we provide clinical data of syphilis about prevention, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.2. to evaluate the efficacy of different courses’(standard or enhanced therapy) of minocycline in treating primary and secondary syphilis. Methods:1. 2094 syphilis patients were collected between January 2006 and December 2013 for epidemiological analysis.2. 156 cases of primary and secondary syphilis were collected(their follow-up time was more than two years and they were treated by minocycline only) which were diagnosed and treated in our department from 2011 to 2013, and divided them into standard treatment(2w) group and enhanced treatment(4w)group according to their treatment courses. All of them received 100 mg minocycline orally twice daily. At the same time to collect 40 cases of syphilis patients only using penicillin therapy. We Compared the variation of final RPR titer of three groups. Results:1. A total of 2094 cases of syphilis were treatment between 2006 to 2013, and these patients include 1171 males and 923 females, the ratio of male and female is 1.27:1, the average annual growth rate is 13.17%,the growth rate of female patients is higher than the male patients’ s between 2011 and 2013; mainly latent syphilis, a total of 1240 cases(59.22%). From 2011 to 2013, the average annual growth rate is 16.32% of female with the average annual growth rate is 12.04% of male, the growth rate of the first women than men; 20 to 39 years age group is the high incidence of syphilis wth 1287 cases(59.89%); the main mode of transmission of non-marital sexual contact with 1439 cases(68.72%).2. 77 cases were included in the standard treatment group,of which the RPR of 56 cases turned negative(72.73%) and 21 cases remained positive(27.27%). 79 cases were included in the enhanced treatment group, of which the RPR of 67 cases turned negative(87.34%) and 12 cases remained positive(12.66%). There was statistical difference between the two groups(p<0.05).3. There are 40 patients in penicillin group, 31 cases turned negative(77.50%) and 9 cases remained positive(22.50%); There are no significant difference compared with standard treatment group(p>0.05), There are no significant difference compared with enhanced treatment group(p>0.05). Conclusion:1. The number of syphilis patients is on the up trend, mainly latent syphilis, there’s a slower growth in the recent three years, and incidence of female increases faster than male. and the incidence of syphilis has been gradually spreading from high-risk to low-risk population groups. 2. The negative conversion rate of RPR can be improved by appropriate extend of minocycline treatment course in treating primary and secondary syphilis. 3.The negative conversion rate of RPR is similar between penicillin group and standard treatment group, but lower than the enhanced treatment group.
