Objective: To evaluate the effect of health education on twin pregnant women based on IKAP theory, so as to provide reference for measures to improve their mental condition. Methods: Randomly selected 100 cases of twin pregnant women who have made regular antenatal examination in The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from Sep. 2014 to Jun. 2015 divided into two groups, with 50 women in each group. The twin pregnant women in the control group received routine antenatal examinations. In addition, the twin pregnant women in the experimental group received a special health education with IKAP theory. The twin pregnant women’s birth outcomes, anxiety, depression and satisfaction were measured and compared between the two groups. Results: 1.In the experimental group the rate of natural birth was 8.34%, and the score of satisfaction was(9.01± 0.78), they were also significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05). 2. There were no significant differences in the delivery pregnancy week, volume of bleeding 2 hours postpartum and 1min Apgar score between the two groups(P>0.05).3. The score of SAS and SDS in the experimental group was(27.64±2.86) and(26.53±2.96), they are significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:1. The IKAP theory on twin pregnancy women can increase the rate of natural birth and patient satisfaction.2. The IKAP theory on twin pregnancy women can decrease the anxiety, depression.3. We need further studies to verify effect of IKAP theory on pregnant weeks to labor, volume of bleeding 2 hours postpartum and 1min Apgar score of the newborn.4.
