The liver plays a very important role in the human body’s life activity,which has very complicated and significant physiological functions. Liver function reserve is an index of the reaction of totle liver potential, and is the sum total of all the hepatocytes that can play a normal physiology function.A normal human’s liver function has huge reserves and regeneration ability to tolerate liver resection of up to 75% volume of the total? liver? volume.Nevertheless, the researchs show that the occurrence of liver failure after hepatectomy is still one of the major complications with serious threat to life in our country. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary to assess comprehensively and accurately the preoperative liver function reserve for forecasting and reducing the incidence of postoperative complications. So far, there are many methods to evaluate the liver function reserve. This paper aims at reviewing the methods of the liver function reserve evaluation.
