Objective:To study the clinical and imaging characteristics of Fahr disease in China. Methods:By using the Meta-analysis of evidence-based medicine, the records of Fahr disease patients in our hospital from January.2012 to January.2016 and the literatures of Fahr disease in China from 1998 to2015 were collected. The demographic data, clinical manifestations and imaging findings of patients with Fahr disease were analyzed. Results : Of the total 395 cases, 106 had integral data, including 6from our hospital and 100 from literature. There were 213 males and 182 females, with a age of onsetting in 1.5-85 years. The ratio of sporadic and familial cases respectively are 79% and 16%. Aphasis( 20%),hypophrenia(15%), dementia(13%), dystaxia(11%), psychogeny( 9%)are the main performances of familial cases, and dizziness(17%),epilepsy(15%), dystaxia(10%)are the main symptoms of sporadic cases. The CT demonstrated that Fahr disease mainly presented the bilateral and symmetrical calcification in the basal ganglia areas(98%),dentatum(30%), thalami(20%), etc. The levels of serumal calcium, phosphorus and parathormone were normal in the laboratorial examination. Conclusion:Consistent with dizziness, epilepsy, mental retardation, movement disorders, ataxia are the main symptoms of Fahr disease, but the symptoms in sporadic and familial of Fahr disease are different. The clinical diagnosis of Fahr disease is not difficult by combining the imaging characteristics and the levels of serum calcium, phosphorus, PTH,calcitonin.
