The etiology of autoimmune thyroid diseases(AITD) still remains unclear. In recent years, it demonstrated that immune disorders caused by infections plays an important role in the development of AITD. Plenty of pathogenic microorganisms were proven to induce AITD and the underlying mechanism differs form each other. Additionally, AITD could also occur in the process of infection treatment. In this review, we summarized the role of infection in the development of AITD. |
